A memorabilia of late OPM rapper Francis Magalona is now up for auction as part of the continued fundraising efforts of the Parokya ni Edgar band for cancer-stricken guitarist Gab Chee Kee.
Parokya frontman Chito Miranda took to his Facebook page to share that Francis M’s wife Pia Magalona agreed to sell her husband’s polo shirt to help in raising funds for Gab’s medical expenses.
The “Master Rapper” wore the said polo video in the music video of Bagsakan, a hit collaboration of him, Parokya ni Edgar, and Gloc-9, back in 2005.
“Honestly, ‘di na ko umaasa na mahahanap pa namin yung pangatlong polo…pero nagbakasakali ako, at nag-message ako kay Saab Magalona,” Chito wrote alongside a screenshot of his conversation with Francis M’s daughter.
He added, “After a few days, she sent me this photo…nahanap nila yung polo and pumayag si Ma’am Pia ipa-auction yung polo ni Sir Kiko for Gab!!”
As of March 3, 12:01 a.m., the highest confirmed bid for Francis M’s polo shirt is at P300,000.
Bidding will end on the late rapper’s death anniversary, March 6, 2023, at 10 p.m.
Chito and Gloc-9’s similar polo shirts were earlier auctioned off for P150,000 and P80,000, respectively. An Eraserheads-signed guitar was also sold for P1.3 million.
Aside from the auction, Parokya has been holding benefit concerts with other OPM artists to raise funds for Gab who got diagnosed with lymphoma late 2022 and has been quietly undergoing chemotherapy for the past few months.
In a recent update, Gab has been transferred from the intensive care and progressive unit to a regular room, as he recuperates from the pneumonia and the complications brought about by his condition.
“Excited parang bata, nag-gigitara habang papunta sa regular room! Konti nalang at makakalabas na rin siya ng hospital!
“May cancer pa rin siya, so tuloy-tuloy pa rin ang laban para makasama na namin siya on the stage soon! Laban pa Gab! Kayang-kaya yan!,” read Parokya’s Facebook post.
