Sharon Cuneta doesn’t mind at all being the subject of memes when it comes to Pinoy “handaan” or festivities.

During her guesting on comedian and talent manager Ogie Diaz’s YouTube channel, Sharon shared her thoughts on becoming a meme that referenced her ’80s hit song Bituing Walang Ningning.

Pinoys usually poke fun at guests wrapping food to take home from parties with the famous lyrics of Sharon’s song: “Balutin mo ako ng hiwaga ng iyong pagmamahal.”

“Tuwang-tuwa ako. Kasi siyempre minsan nadadaanan mo sa YouTube, TikTok o kaya sa Facebook ‘yung mga may picture ko nasa buffet table tapos may ekis.

“‘Wag magsha-Sharon, ibig sabihin bawal magbalot (ng pagkain)… tawang-tawa ako,” Sharon shared in the interview.

Sharon referred to a viral photo that showed a photo of herself edited with the “NO” sign posted in front of a buffet table, suggesting that guests are not allowed to take out food.

The veteran singer-actress also said she’s “not at all” offended by the memes, saying she’s amused that she would be called to mind during such event.

“Na-touch ako. Ang cute naman at least naalala ako, nila ‘di ba…Naaaliw ako, tuwang-tuwa ako,” she said.

Sharon added she’s actually the type to tell her guests to pack and bring home food from occasions.

“Ako lang ang may karapatang magsabing ‘magbalot na kayo’. Kasi ‘yun naman ang ugali ko.

“‘Pag kakain, ‘Balutin niyo na ‘yung pagkain, sayang lang ‘yan,” she shared.
