Kakai Bautista brought nostalgia to netizens after singing the Maynila theme song that she originally sang 20 years ago.
The actress-comedienne took the online community by surprise after she uploaded a TikTok video of her belting out the iconic “Mahal Kong Maynila” song used in the now-debunked GMA drama anthology.
“Ito na yung request niyo, tingnan natin kung virginal pa rin yung boses niyan siya,” Kakai said in the video before singing her rendition of the song composed by Vince De Jesus
The song’s popular opening lyrics goes: “Mahal kong Maynila, sayo’y hindi mawawalay”.
In an Instagram post, Kakai shared that “Mahal Kong Maynila” was the first and only theme song she recorded.
“Nakakatuwa may sayaw sa TikTok,” she wrote as caption in a video of her lip syncing and grooving to the song.
Netizens were taken by surprise after belatedly discovering that she was the voice behind the LSS-inducing sound.
