Darren Espanto made his height known to the public after members of popular K-pop boy group ENHYPEN’s reaction to his height sent social media abuzz.
The former The Voice Kids Season 1 finalist was a guest performer at ENHYPEN’s first-ever fan meet in the country held in line with beauty brand BYS Philippines’ 10th anniversary last Saturday, December 3.
Following the event, Darren took to Instagram to share pics of his performance, as well as snaps of him with the Kpop stars.
A clip of Darren and ENHYPEN getting ready for the photo op also made rounds online as the singer’s height difference with the Kpop-idols took the boys, as well as their fans, ENGENEs, by surprise.
Fans then poked fun at the members reaction, noting that Jake, along with the group’s maknae line or the youngest members of the group— Jungwon and Ni-ki all looked down to check the shoes Darren was wearing before posing for photos backstage.
Sunoo, on the other hand, was all smiles to the singer.
“Guys ang funny di ata tanggap nina jake jungwon at ni-ki height difference nila kay darren kasi tinitingnan talaga nila chunky shoes ni darren (crying emojis) LOOK AT THEM STARING AT HIS SHOES (crying emojis),” humoured a fan on Twitter.
“Ni-ki be like, does eating tenten isn’t enough??,” quipped a fan while referring to the gummy vitamins the Japanese member apparently took to grow taller.
After a number of queries about his height on social media, Darren himself revealed in a tweet that he stands six feet tall.
In a separate post, Darren retweeted a screenshot showing a spike of the term “darren espanto height 2022” on Google Trends a day after the fanmeet.
The singer, meanwhile said he’s “honored” to be featured twice on Korean media outlet Koreaboo’s website following his viral interaction with ENHYPEN.
Darren previously made it Koreaboo after netizens took notice of his resemblance to South Korean actor Wi Ha-joon of hit Netflix series Squid Game.
