Julia Barretto was spotted spending time with Gerald Anderson’s mother Evangeline “Vangie” Opsima.
On Instagram, Gerald’s younger brother Ken Anderson shared a clip of Julia posing for a photo with the actor’s mom.
“Juju and motherzilla,” wrote Ken via Instagram story.
It appeared that Julia bonded with some of Gerald’s family members over dinner while he was in a lock-in taping for upcoming series A Family Affair.
To recall, Vangie made a strong statement against Julia in 2019 amid speculations that Gerald was already dating the actress, which came in light of Gerald’s controversial breakup with ex-girlfriend Bea Alonzo.
“Julia, hindi ibig sabihin hindi kita gusto, bata ka sa anak ko. May edad si (Gerald). Baka lang ilang taon lang, wala na rin. O maybe three months, wala na kayo,” said Evangeline in an interview with ABS-CBN News General Santos.
Vangie also made clear why she thought her son and Julia’s relationship wouldn’t last long in a relationship given their age gap and line of work.
“Hindi ko sinasabing ayaw kita, no, ang akin lang, ang advice ko lang sa’yo, please, ayoko kasi, may edad na rin si Gerald sa’yo. Hindi rin kayo magtatagal kasi alam ko, nasa industriya ka rin. Alam ko ‘yung relasyon laro lang,” added Vangie.
Julia, at the time, however, stressed that she and Gerald were not a couple, while the actor clarified that there was no third party involved in his split with Bea.
Julia and Gerald confirmed they are in a relationship in March 2021.
