TC Candler hailed Myanmar actor, model and singer Paing Thakorn as this year’s winner of the “Most Handsome Face” in the world.
The UK-based entertainment website on Tuesday, December 28, released The 100 Most Handsome Faces of 2021, with Paing taking the top spot.
“Free this man!” TC Candler wrote as caption while flashing photos of Paing.
“ Free Paing Takhon, political prisoner of Myanmar,” it added.
After the Myanmar military seized control of the country in February, Paing became active in joining anti-coup protests and using his platform to voice out his support for the pro-democracy movement.
In April, Paing was arrested by around 50 soldiers. A report by BBC on the same day the TC Candler list was released, said that Paing has been sentenced to three years in prison for taking part in the mass protests.
The 25-year-old rose to global popularity in January this year after photos of him sporting a shaved head and a monk robe sent netizens into a frenzy. The internet dubbed him as the “hot monk”.
On the other hand, Daniel Matsunaga was the only local male artist included in the ranking. The Manila-based Brapanese model-actor, who’s now on his fifth appearance on the list, landed on the 83rd spot.
