Derek Ramsay and Ellen Adarna called out a tabloid over “fake news” about the last name of the actress’ son Elias.

On Saturday, the couple threatened legal action against Bulgar for publishing a story that alleged that Ellen did not let Elias use his father John Lloyd Cruz’s surname.

“The ultimate bearer of fake news. We will definitely take legal action on this! Don’t ever attack my family,” read Derek’s Instagram post with a screenshot of a cropped photo of his and Ellen’s wedding invitation card showing only Adarna as Elias’ last name.

Another screenshot showed Derek’s lawyer Joji Villanueva Alonso replying to Bulgar’s Facebook post with a photo showing Elias with his surname Cruz.

“(Just) because someone posts a photo showing part of the wedding invitation doesn’t mean that Elias’ family name is not Cruz. Please be more circumspect in making a conclusion,” wrote Joji.

Ellen, on the other hand, stated via an Instagram story that they will not go easy on  the matter.

“Wait for it @bulgar_online. Attack my family, you know what’s up. This is non-negotiable. #fakenews,” said Ellen.

On Saturday, Bulgar released an erratum on the said report and offered their apologies to the couple and their family for the “misunderstanding” over the screenshot of the wedding invitation that surfaced online.

The news outlet also thanked the couple for their understanding and openness to hear their side.
