Heart Evangelista is proof that fashion isn’t always about following the latest trends.
The Kapuso actress was upfront with her sentiments on the true meaning of fashion as she recalled a time when a local designer judged her for reusing her shoes.
In her latest YouTube video, Heart looked back on the memory when she showcased her most used pair of shoes – nude Christian Louboutin Lady Peep platforms.
“I remember there’s this Filipino designer, I’m not going to name, but a lot of my friends would tell me that he would always say bad things about me and he would say, ‘Oh, she only has one pair,’ ganyan or ‘It’s already what year and she still uses her lady peep nude platforms,’” she said.
The 36-year-old admitted the harsh comments bothered her, expressing that fashion is not about sporting what’s new.
Heart explained: “Fashion is all about having key pieces that will last you forever, that you could still use and mix with your new and old. I think that is fashion and that is self-expression.”
She continued on to advise her fans wear whatever makes them feel good even if it’s no longer in season.
For Heart, she continues to wear her nude heels despite the criticisms since the shoes makes her feel like she’s closer to being six-feet tall.
“It’s all about how you feel and how good you feel and if this makes me feel like I’m 5’11” and I can be Miss Universe, then why not? I’m gonna wear it forever,” she said.
